Aman & Eknoor- #Suddenly Married

Covid 19 Wedding

You know it’s divine connect when your first-ever telephonic conversation lasts for 6 hours. It was ‘love on first-call’ for Aman & Eknoor. They bridged 11000 KMs, she left Canada for good in 48 hours flat, and they outraced the COVID 19 epidemic to be together finally.

It was a cold night in Canada when fast asleep Eknoor reluctantly picked up her cousin’s phone from India. “I have passed on your number to a friend of mine, he is looking for a life partner as well; I think you would be a good match. Speak to him. Good night.” What got into him she thought and kept the phone down. Whatsapp started beeping right after as he shared a couple of pictures and the Instagram id of his friend. “We connected on Instagram the next day and the first exchange of texts itself was surprisingly endearing. Sometimes you feel the connection instantly and that’s what was happening to both of us, I guess. As we picked up the phone to talk for the first time; we kept at it for six hours. I could not believe what was happening as I finally kept the phone down that morning. Something inside of me was jumping with unparalleled joy. ” reminisces Eknoor

The first glance

As luck would have it, Eknoor’s father was travelling to India and she just couldn’t lose this opportunity to get him to meet Aman. She was thrilled to get her father’s nod the next day and anxiety to meet Aman was peaking. Finally, after 33 days of broaching an awkward introduction, they were finally poised to meet in person.

As my car entered the Ambience Mall alley, my heart filled with joy seeing him hold a placard “I have waited 33 days for this day”. That was it. I fell in love all over again with him. We met every day till our families formally hitched us; 40 days after our first interaction.”

Love on FaceTime

Since Eknoor had to fly back to Canada, the timespan of being together was short-lived. In spite of never-ending FaceTime calls and heartwarming gestures from Aman, Eknoor wasn’t able to hold herself together. She wanted to be back with him as soon as she could.

Planning the wedding

Anxiety about the wedding preparation soared as the dates of the wedding got decided with a range of events planned from April 28th till May 2nd. Things were complicated as Eknoor’s entire family’s Canadian PR was at stake and her mother’s employer was hardly cooperative. While she had already given up on the Canadian PR, she didn’t want to sabotage her family’s interest in the country. But finally, they decided to bid goodbye to Canada. Flew back to India in 48 hours straight to be received by Aman at the airport. Eknoor was thrilled and knitting together the next few days of love and wedding planning. These were some of the best days of their courtship as those mushy meetings, shopping together and sharing of innumerable waves of laughter strengthened the banks of their love.

The Epidemic Strikes

By the second week of March; COVID-19 was already a concern. It was on March 19th, 2020 (3 days before the Junta Curfew) that the families decided to bid goodbye to the grand festivities they had planned for and wanted to get the couple married in an intimate setting with 40-50 family members at a south Delhi farmhouse. But Aman wasn’t willing to give in. 12 hours later, the Corona Surge had begun and Eknoor’s mom tasked her to convince Aman. And, she did. They were supposed to be married the next day (one day before the Junta curfew).

Just standing at a distance, taking it all in, looking at everyone smiling and laughing, worried & tensed, I finally went close and got to know it’s my Mehendi night, the same day. Gathered myself, rushed to get dressed and had my Mehendi at Aman’s place because guess what, we’re on the road to breaking stereotypes.

It’s about being together

It was stressful and discouraging to give up on the plans we had knitted together with so much love. But, eventually, we were just determined to get together and no Virus was going to stop us. Aman could sense Eknoor’s discomfort and embraced it as his very own; holding her hand, making her smile every step of the way till Anand Karaj. The pictures below not only reflect the beauty of their relationship but the tenacity & resilience of their bond. We are certain that their story will inspire millions of couples.

Honeymoon under lockdown

After having gone through so much stress & confusion, a wonderful honeymoon would have been perfect. But, given the Corona situation, it wasn’t feasible. Eknoor & Aman didn’t lose heart, they made everyday special. Consider this, on the very next day of their wedding, they exchanged rings as the two-day wedding planning left no room for the engagement ceremony before the wedding. The next few days had them dress up all colour coordinated and spend time in their blissful home in a way that will give you #couplegoals.

They planned cute coffee and movie dates for each other like the one captured below in the video. The last few seconds when Eknoor expresses her love for Aman are pure gold.

Aman was hoping to make the first month anniversary of their wedding special, but he had his hands-tied. The lockdown and the extension of it left very little room to do something luxurious or grand. But again he defeated all odds and made it really special for his loving wife.

This couple is all one could ask for when it comes to standing by each other and making the most of what life has to offer. We wish Aman & Eknoor a wonderful married life, full of love, happiness and joy.
